Students will become well-rounded in the fundamentals of digital photography. Course instruction will focus on learning how a camera works, understanding composition, understanding lighting, and learning how to use Adobe Photoshop to edit and enhance an image. While receiving basic instruction, demonstration, and viewing sample photography, students will shoot assignments based on what they are learning and engage in critiques to understand the fundamentals of visual storytelling. Students will gather and assemble a portfolio of their own photographs.
This High School CTE Digital Photography with Adobe Photoshop course teaches digital photography using iPhone cameras and Adobe Photoshop. Students will explore composition, photography elements, art genres, and visual storytelling while building on their existing Adobe skills. The course includes assignments like photo series, storytelling exercises, and a final curated portfolio, with grades based on quizzes, projects, exams, and participation. Key units cover topics such as composition, lighting, advanced iPhone techniques, and portfolio presentation. The semester ends with a final exam and a class exhibition where students showcase their best work.
