For this assignment, I listened to an episode of the AI‑Driven Marketer podcast titled “Is AI Killing the Art of Marketing? Why So Many Are Grieving Right Now” hosted by Dan and Travis Sanchez. This episode discusses how the rise of tools like ChatGPT 4.1 is reshaping creative roles in marketing and why many professionals are feeling emotional tension around the shift (Sanchez & Sanchez, 2025).
The episode highlighted how AI can now deal with brainstorming, content writing, and even campaign planning, which is used to define the creative contribution of a marketer. As a result, many marketers feel displaced or creatively sidelined. The hosts acknowledged this sense of grief but also emphasized the opportunity to refocus on higher-level strategy, empathy-driven storytelling, and responsible AI integration. This directly supports my research on how AI is transforming digital marketing roles and practices.
The podcast’s appeal lies in its balanced, human-centered approach. Unlike more technical AI podcasts, it combines emotional intelligence with practical insight, offering advice on both adapting to and embracing AI. It also meets the evaluation standards outlined by Tate (2019): the hosts are credible professionals (authority), the content is current and well-explained (accuracy, currency), and the tone is thoughtful rather than promotional (objectivity, coverage).
This episode helped reinforce the importance of ethical, adaptable communication in a rapidly evolving media landscape—exactly what we’re being trained to evaluate and implement in COM-510.
