Composition refers to the arrangement and relationship of the different parts that make up the whole image.
In visual art (this class), a composition is divided into two areas, the elements of art (the composition’s individual visual parts) and the principles of design (which are the composition’s organizing ideas).
You will complete some sketchbook journals in order to learn different composition concepts.
With each unit, we will learn a different Principle of Design. Good composition is essential to the success of a painting. Done successfully, good composition draws the viewer in and then moves the viewer's eye across the whole painting so that everything is taken in, finally settling on the main subject of the painting.
