This is the first lesson in the unit titled “As I Grow.” This lesson infuses Art History with life and death and the connection between Gustav Klimt’s “Tree of Life” with how all things are born, then grow, and then returns back into the earth.

A brief PowerPoint in the beginning will touch briefly on Art Nouveau and on similarity and differences by using Gustav Klimt, “The Tree of Life” and an ordinary tree in the wintertime. They will then be introduced to warm and cool colors. With the use of watercolor and Tempera paint the students will create their very own tree of life. First, they must choose either warm or cool colors as their background. And then finishing up with their own rendition of the “Tree of Life”. A small assessment will be given when students are complete.
